targetMy gym offers a class called body combat. It’s an aerobic class that teaches different boxing moves. We use our hands, legs and whole body to do several different combinations of punches. Frequently the instructor will belt out “see your target, right there, that’s your target!” The room has mirrors on all four sides. So we are looking at our target from every angle. We are the target. The instructor didn’t have to explain anything about our target or opponent. That wasn’t really necessary because our purpose is to learn the moves so when the time comes we’re ready. Ready to react out of instinct. As I’ve reflected on this past year and the one in front of me the only declaration that means anything is to go at my target, me. The punches and combinations rehearsed will strengthen everything I do. Physically and mentally I should be quicker on my feet.
